September 14, 2026 CMAP launches 2026 Municipal Survey to better understand local needs The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) invites all 284 municipalities in northeastern Illinois to participate in the 2026 Municipal Survey, from September 14 through October 9. Conducted every two years, the survey helps CMAP better understand local priorities, challenges, and capacity so the agency can provide more responsive technical assistance, inform policy analysis, and track progress towards regional goals. Communities can expect to receive an email from their CMAP staff liaison the week of September 14, with a printed survey arriving in the mail shortly after. CMAP recognizes that completing the survey requires time — and, in many cases, coordination across municipal departments — and greatly values the expertise communities bring to the process. Strong participation helps ensure that CMAP has a more complete picture of needs across the region and can better target its work, resources, and partnerships to support communities in the years ahead.
