CMAP’s communications and engagement work earns industry recognition

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning’s (CMAP) work to engage audiences and tell northeastern Illinois’ stories earned four honors from organizations recognizing excellence in public relations, marketing, and government communications.

At the Publicity Club of Chicago’s 68th annual Golden Trumpet Awards, CMAP’s Faces of the RTP campaign received a Silver Award. The campaign introduced people from across northeastern Illinois and shared how transportation shapes their daily lives. CMAP partnered with Morreale Communications on the initiative. CMAP’s State of the Region event received the Gold Award, recognizing the event that brough nearly 1,000 government, business, transportation, civic, and community leaders together at Chicago’s Old Post Office to launch The Century Plan and celebrate CMAP’s 20th anniversary. CMAP partnered with M.Harris & Kern on the event. State of the Region also was named on of the ten finalists for the Platinum Award, the Publicity Club of Chicago’s highest competitive honor recognizing the best overall campaign of the year.

CMAP also earned two honors in the 2026 3CMA Savvy Awards, which recognize excellence in government communications. CMAP’s State of the Region event was recognized once more, receiving a Silver Circle Award in the One-Time Event category. Judges highlighted the event’s graphics, programming, strong attendance, and sense of energy and community it created. CMAP’s 2025 Annual Report also received an Award of Excellence in the Annual Report category, with judges praising its organization, use of imagery to support the narrative, balance of text and visuals, and professional design.

Together, these four honors recognize CMAP’s work to make regional planning engaging, accessible, and relevant to the people and communities the agency serves.
