CMAP resources and toolkits help municipalities develop policies to support the goals of ON TO 2050, the agency’s long-range plan.

As the state-authorized regional planning agency for northeastern Illinois, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is responsible for managing an integrated land use and transportation planning process.

CMAP coordinates with partners to develop and implement a 30-year regional plan, ON TO 2050, comprehensive plan that advances shared goals and priorities related to
transportation, the economy, the environment, and other quality-of-life issues.

CMAP’s technical assistance program offers planning and implementation support, provides interagency expertise, leverages the region’s transit network, and builds local government capacity.
