Register for CMAP’s new accessibility workshop: Accessible Public Engagement Training

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is excited to offer a new training as part of our Accessible Communities program!

Throughout June, CMAP and MUSE Community + Design will host four free interactive workshops across northeastern Illinois on how to conduct accessible public engagement.

Grounded in the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, this session will demystify how to proactively plan for accessibility accommodations, create inclusive spaces — both virtual and in-person — and design engagement strategies that meet the needs of community members with disabilities.

Participants will walk away with:

  • A clear understanding of requirements and best practices for accessibility in public engagement
  • Tools to identify and implement proactive accommodations
  • Strategies for designing inclusive events and communications that reduce barriers and foster participation

All sessions will provide the same content. All sessions are free.
