October 4, 2024 Executive Director Erin Aleman recognized by March of Dimes with public service award The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning’s (CMAP) Executive Director Erin Aleman is being recognized for her leadership and service this week by the March of Dimes. Erin received the Leadership in the Public Sector award at the 2024 Construction and Transportation Awards Luncheon, an event that celebrates achievements, supports the March of Dimes’ mission, and raises critical funds for research, advocacy, and community programs. “As a mother myself, hearing earlier the story of families whose lives were changed for the better by the work the March of Dimes does to improve the health of mothers and babies is truly inspiring. It serves as a constant reminder of why leadership in public service matters,” Erin said. “This award also reflects the commitment and dedication of the incredible team I work with at CMAP every day. It highlights the importance of the public and private sectors working in tandem to achieve meaningful progress, together.” CMAP helps support families by coordinating regional transportation, economic, environmental, and land use planning to provide safe, accessible, and efficient mobility for communities. By prioritizing projects that improve access to essential services, such as healthcare, education, and employment, CMAP contributes to the overall well-being and quality of life for families. The March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health of mothers and babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. Founded in 1938 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to combat polio, the organization shifted its focus after the development of the polio vaccine. Today, it funds research, advocates for public policies supporting maternal and infant health, and provides education and resources to healthcare professionals and families. Through community programs, advocacy, and research, the March of Dimes aims to ensure that every baby has a healthy start in life.
