January 12, 2024 CMAP adopts new public participation plan CMAP’s Metropolitan Planning Organization Policy Committee approved a new public participation plan for the agency at its January meeting. Every four years, CMAP creates a public participation plan to inform regional stakeholders about opportunities to guide the agency’s work and to commit to best practices for proactive, meaningful, and inclusive public engagement. The public participation plan guides CMAP’s proactive engagement of the residents and stakeholders of northeastern Illinois and provides residents with guidance on participating in regional policy development and decision-making processes. CMAP is proud to bring innovation to its public engagement initiatives with illustrated magazines for its local planning projects, expansion of its online engagement platform, and deepening engagement through the Community Alliance for Regional Equity.
