My Daily Travel survey underway this fall

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is conducting a major survey through spring of 2025 to better understand northeastern Illinois residents’ travel patterns.

As travel behaviors change and technologies evolve over the next few years, transportation planners will use this survey data to guide future transportation investments and prioritize improvements.

At least 4,000 households in northeastern Illinois are expected to participate in the survey over the next year. Households will receive an invitation by U.S. mail to participate and are strongly encouraged to complete the survey to help northeastern Illinois plan for a transportation system that meets their needs.

“CMAP is excited to invite people from across our region to share how they and their families get to work, school, stores, and recreational opportunities,” said CMAP Executive Director Erin Aleman. “I encourage everyone invited to participate in the survey and share with us how they get around. Strong participation ensures that the plans we make today contribute to a transportation system that works for everyone for many years to come.”

Invited households may complete the survey online, over the phone, or through a smartphone app (rMove™). Only invited households are eligible to take the survey, but if you don’t receive an invitation this year there will be two more rounds of the survey in the near future.

The survey team is committed to protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and security of your personal information, and takes this responsibility seriously. For more information about the study and how your privacy is protected, please visit the survey website: MyDailyTravelSurvey.com.
