Future Leaders in Planning (FLIP) is the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning’s (CMAP) summer program for high school students in northeastern Illinois. The free leadership development program helps students explore the field of urban planning and learn about the issues that shape our region. Newsletter text Future Leaders in Planning (FLIP) is the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning’s (CMAP) summer program for high school students in northeastern Illinois. High school students from Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties are encouraged to apply. FLIP is for students who want to learn about urban planning and our region and share ideas about how to make northeastern Illinois a better place to live, learn, work, and play. This year’s program runs over five days in June — June 23-26 (Tuesday through Friday), and June 30 (Tuesday). It will take place in person at CMAP’s office in the Old Post Office in downtown Chicago and will include field trips to sites throughout the region. The program is completely free to students, and includes snacks, meals, public transportation to and from sessions, and materials. Learn more and apply. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. May 1.
