Regional ADA Coordinators Group

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning’s (CMAP) Regional ADA Coordinators Group is a peer professional development group to provide resources and support to ADA coordinators in northeastern Illinois. Participants will gain practical, actionable knowledge to help improve accessibility and ADA compliance in northeastern Illinois. This is also a space for ADA coordinators to connect with each other to share challenges, opportunities, and lessons learned.

Who should attend?

  • Municipal ADA coordinators or their designee
  • ADA coordinators from other local government organizations such as park districts, emergency services, libraries, etc.

The Regional ADA Coordinators Group is the latest step in CMAP’s multi-year accessibility program providing direct support to communities in the region. This effort builds on regional momentum to make northeastern Illinois more accessible and inclusive and achieve compliance with federal ADA regulations.

View CMAP’s library of materials and captioned video recordings from trainings on accessibility topics including Title II of the ADA, the role of ADA coordinators, self-evaluations and transition plans, the Illinois Accessibility Code, and Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG).

CMAP has created plug-and-play templates with vetted language for public entities to use for their ADA public notice, ADA coordinator posting, and grievance procedure. These are required elements under Title II of the ADA.
